BLACKWATER

Black Water is the story of a man who goes to Iraq as a private contractor to provide for his family and descends into the darkness of a country at War.

Synopsis

Bob Kesh, is an ex-cop who at 37 is disabled when a bullet gets lodged in his hip on a routine traffic stop gone wrong. With little else to do, he's lured by his Patriotism and the promise of money and honor to serve in Iraq as a private contractor. Kesh was happily married but his disability caused a major strain on his family and he had drifted from job to job until he found the opportunity to put his training to use as a private contractor with Blackwater.  Kesh had no idea what he was getting himself into. Kesh ended up in the middle of a heated civil war where you make up the rules as you go along.  Having served in the Police force in the US, Kesh lived by a code of ethics and honor and he soon learned that in Iraq there are no codes of conduct and honor and that morality is determined by who you are with and what gamble you are will to take with your life. His employer, Blackwater, was at it's nadir in strength and influence and they were beyond reproach and unaccountable for anything.  His mission was with complete disregard for life and this began to test Kesh's will and sanity as he began to eat, sleep and breathe the stench of death on a daily basis.  He made many friends in Iraq, a few of which died  from IED's and in battle.  Kesh soon began to make daily choices between life and death and it began to tear at his soul. Kesh's life began to unravel as he began to devalue life and found it harder and harder to distinguish between Friend and foe. His mission from day one was to provide safety for his clients no matter the cost and he did that diligently.  On top of all that, the country that Kesh had sworn to protect and defend was soon giving way to considering him a War Criminal for doing his job. He gave and gave until there was no more to give and then upon his return to the US, the reality finally sunk in as he realized that he left a part of himself in Iraq.
